Gurpriya Dhillon, Class of 2012 – “As I began looking through the different schools during my MBA search process, Duke quickly stood out to me. Upon attending different information sessions and visiting the school, it became apparent that Fuqua’s community fostered teamwork and effectively engaged their entire student body. Upon further research, I noticed that Duke hosted The Weekend for Women and I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to experience the school on a more personal level. Looking back, that was one of the best ways to discover Fuqua.
Throughout the weekend, I met with many current students who gave me unique insight into their experiences and helped me form a clearer picture of The Duke MBA. I also took note that The Weekend for Women is completely student-run (as are most of Fuqua’s activities), a testament to the fact that the administration is extremely supportive of the student body. This weekend allows you to fully engage in the Fuqua community and get a real feel for the environment that the school fosters. Meeting my future classmates while discovering the city of Durham made for a very fun and memorable weekend. I would thoroughly encourage every female who is considering a Duke MBA to attend The Weekend for Women. You will have a blast!”
Misa Fujimura–Fanselow, Class of 2012 – “The Weekend for Women was one of the most inspiring experiences I had throughout my MBA application process. I solidified my enthusiasm to want to be part of Fuqua over the course of the weekend as I met current students who demonstrated leadership, exuded confidence and showed a commitment to enhance Duke’s community. In addition, it was a great chance to meet other women applicants. I kept in touch with participants from the weekend and we are now excited to be part of Fuqua’s community. I highly recommend this event to anyone who is interested in pursuing her MBA at Duke.”

The weekend was a wonderful experience that opened my eyes to the many ways that Duke encourages women to lead and collaborate in their workplace and communities. Through the course of the weekend, I met many female students who were passionate about leading through business and it was evident through their dedication and excitement that they believed Duke would equip them to meet their goals. The Weekend for Women gave me a first-hand view of Duke’s collaborative culture and opened my eyes to the myriad of leadership opportunities here at Duke. I made the decision to come to Duke because I felt so strongly about my weekend experience. Knowing, I would be surrounded by great women at a school that highly values diversity, made me confident that I could thrive here. “
